So like wut, a month after and halfish after the new year, I've finally decided to do a best of 06 list for Music and Movies. Lets start with All the Movies:
1. Little Miss Sunshine
This was by far my favourite movie of the year for several reasons; One, It had the fucked up family theme which I seem to have a thing for (Six Feet Under etc...), it was dark, it was funny, it was well acted and well scripted. Yet through the darkness and the sadness of the family you couldnt help but to laugh. It was sad at parts, and helerious at other parts. Its just perfect. For me, this movie is up there with Gardenstate.

2. Borat
I barely ever watch comedies, because they usually are so predictable, cheap, lame and horrible in general that make me wanna vomit instead of laugh. But Borat... man I freaking laughed... I did feel like vomitting at some parts too, but it was a good vomitting feeling. If you havent seen it, go watch it already!!! I can honestly say that its one of my favourite comedy movies ever.

3. Science of Sleep
I dont know how else I can say it, but quite simply Michelle Gondry is just pure jeneous. This movie is perfection to the maximum!! Its an awesome script, with amazing visuals, and then add my lovely Charlotte Gainsburg and its just... PERFECT!!

4. Marie Antoinette
I dont care what all of you say about this movie, I thought it was brilliant. Maybe not the best script, and I'm not really a big fan of Cristen Dunst, but every shot of this movie was like a painting. Its a visual masterpiece. Also the music, the weird new wave/dance music from 80's/90's somehow really worked with the whole movie. I LOVE IT!!!

An Ode to Madge

I've gone through several Madge phases through the past few years I must admit. I'm ashamed to say it, but It all started with what I consider to be a not so great album/overrated album, which would be "Confessions on a Dancefloor". In my opinion, she's done some shit albums and put out a few great ones. Ray of Light, Like A Prayer, and my most favorite Music are untouchables. I mean, they are not perfect... But they are amazingly great. Madonna is not a great songwriter, she's no intellectual. Her lyric writing abilities are average... In other words she's no Bono, But I think what she lacks in lyrics she makes up in other ways.
Before Confessions, I have to admit that I was too young/close minded to give Madonna a try. But I remember, just before Confessions I had gone through a majorly depressing huge phase with Nine Inch Nails, and I was ready to listen to something that was not depressing and Madonna's new album which was spinnin' non stop everywhere you went at the time was probably the first thing that caught my attention. Also at the time, My fitness obsession kicked in, and I needed music to work out to. So Confessions was the perfect choice.
So at one time, when I was bored, I was admiring this picture of Madonna, and ended up drawing a big copy of it, which might I add turned out pretty well and ended up in my portfolio for Art school. I really love Madonna's Ray of light Image, both the photography and the look, it really suited her. Now however, her whole confessions look with the freaking legs out is whacked out! I really wish she'd cover them for her next album :P.
Any who, In light of recent events, Madonna's releasing yet another (second one in a matter of a year) live CD/DVD set, out this Tuesday (Monday). This one is not a documentary, its actual concert footage, which should be pretty good. Actually I've heard and Seen it and its actually pretty good. I love the fact that Stuart Price remake/mixes all her old songs for her new tours and they sound so much better to me, hehe... So do I think its buy worthy? Well I know I'll probably end up buying the DVD if not both CD/DVD. I have a thing for music DVD's, specially the ones that make me move, cuz I can pop em in when I work out :P. So Yeah Go buy it, and oh yeah, these 2 songs are really good intellectual(BAHAHA!!) madge songs which I really love and should definitely be checked out, neither are on her new tour CD.

Sorry for the lack of postings... I've been really busy lately, I've been working for all week pretty much and finally my artistic dry period is over and for some reason I've been flooded with ideas, so I've been working hard. But her are the highlights of the week anyways:
*Killers premiered their new video, the preview looked way more exciting than the real thing, and Brandon looks like hes about to die in the video
*XO London had a very nice posting about Deborah Harry and her solo career and he posted 4 songs from her solo album KooKoo which are really worth checking out.
*We are all doomed, that is we are if this guy (click on the link) ends up having a successful career. This world is over, if he can really have hits on the charts...
* I finally gave the Lilly Allen CD another try, and I loved it... She reminds me of a young Tori Amos,... But lately any woman singer I hear sounds like Tori to me, so maybe its just me... But those lyrics man, she totally reminds me of Tori. Watch Smile
*kelis' new album, sounded disappointing at first, but now I LOVE it. Its pretty much as good as Tasty, and I actually really thought that she is going to screw up on this album, but nope, its very good.
* Madonna got in trouble in Germany. While she was fighting with the police on her crucifying scene on stage, she didn't have time for soundcheck so the crowd walked in to makeup less Madonna. On sound check... And Madonna asked them politely to be quite, LOL right! Read the whole story here.
*Finally, Paris Hilton's new album is not half as bad as I thought. Highlights for me are: Screwed, D'ya Think I'm Sexy

On one of the lengthy conversations Me and Komi were having during midnight on MSN, she told me that she hates Punk Music. She said she believes that it is waste of time listening to punk music when all the artist does is scream. That got me thinking, how many people categorize punk by the music of the Mainstream punk bands of now, bands that only sing of sorrow and sadness that teenage little girl only connect to, like simple plan. Which got me thinking how sad the punk music scene has become that when we think punk, bands like simple plan or My Chemical Romance comes to mind. Personally I don't even consider simple Plan punk, to me they are cheesy teenage drama music. My Chemical Romance I have to admit, I like, but I don't consider their music punk. Their More of an emo/Pop band. So on this post, I will give you my definition of Punk music, of what I consider to be real punk rock artists.

1. Siouxsie and the Banshees: Many don't consider Siouxsie and the Banshees a Punk band. They are categorized more as a Goth band, and I do agree with that. However, They did release in my opinion one of the most influential punk albums, "The Scream". Sure later on in their career, Siouxsie found commercial success with songs like "Kiss Them For Me", and like most punk bands settled for a more pop sound, but "The Scream" still remains a flawless punk album in my opinion, so:

2. The Clash: How cliche to include The Clash on my list Huh? Well, first, I love the Clash! They are amazing, and the whole raggae Punk thing really works for me. So:

3. Dead Kennedys: Another band that I enjoy listening to every once in a while. Dead Kennedys, up to this day remain one of the most influential Punk bands ever. And their soo good!

4. Patti Smith: Probably my favourite artist out of the bunch, this Punk poet changed the way we listen to punk. With one of the best rated albums of the past century "Horses", Patti Smith changed the face of punk music forever. She later went on to make music in the general rock category but to this day, her most influential work remains to be "Horses".

5. Richard Hell & the Viodoids: Richard Hell was one of the first bands to emerge out of the 1970's New York punk scene. His music to me has a very care free sound to it, and makes me happy to listen to.

6. Sex Pistols: The most influential and famous punk band ever, I just had to include them.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs: The last one of the bunch. With all the mentioned artist above being from 1970's, which in my opinion is when the best punk music was made, I felt the need to include one of the new Punk artists of our time. I personally don't listen to any new punk music, because the popular ones are really bad, and for some reason I've never came across an underground punk band that I like. YYY's are really not a punk band, Specially with their new album, but their last album "Fever to Tell" had a very punk sound to it, so I decided to include them on the list.

Goldfrapp News

It seems like Goldfrapp have not given up on the North American market just yet. Their song can be heard on literally ALOT of comercials lately, including: Ooh La La on a commercial for Diet Coke, Fly Me Away on Feria Hair dye, and Number 1 is on a promotion clip for Laguna Beach season 3. Also the band is set to release a remix album titled "We Are Glitter", due out October 17th. The remix album includes the remixers such as DFA, Flaming Lips, Benny Benassi, Ewan Pearson, François K, Alan Braxe & Fred Falke and many more. Maybe Goldfrapp can have a nice sales overseas afterall. Anyways, I was looking through my Goldfrapp songs on my Comp and I found this that Some of You might Find interesting

Robbie Williams - Rudebox

I've never been a fan of Robbie Williams. I've actually found him quite gross, but I've always respected him as a singer who has made a name for himself over the years. Rudebox, is the latest single from Robbie Williams from his upcoming album which is suppose to be "his Most experimental album up to date". Watching this video for the fist time, the only thing I could do was laugh! And it wasn't because it was funny, it was pity laughing. This video looks like a bad parody done by Ali G(the guy who hosted the MTV Europe awards last year and half his jokes were not funny). This is the product of Robbie Williams, trying to boost up his already sinking career by rapping! Its like wearing an outfit that is clearly not made for you and does not fit you. In the end, all I can say is, Poor Robbie's career... Watch the video though, its a good laugh...

As some of you have guessed by now I have a thing for rock bands fronted by women. Garbage, Hole, Metric, siouxsie And the Banshees, Hole, Nodoubt, YYY's ... The list goes on and on, and I don't know why that is, but its always been that way. The Cardigans are my latest discovery, that fits this category: A rock Band fronted by a Woman. The lead singer Nina Persson has the ironic lyrics of Tori Amos, and still pulls of the sweetness of Dolores of the Cranberries. The Cardigans, originally from Sweden, have been named the best success story since Abba.

Their latest album "Super Extra Gravity" is a masterpiece on its own terms. It has a very "Sheryl Crow" quality, and yet it still manages to stay a very unique piece of art. The artwork for the album is in my opinion the best cover art ever, and that probably is the reason that led me to checking them out.

Emily Hanes of the mildly popular group Metric has made a name for herself in the indie world during the past couple of years. "One Breath of Air", sings Bjork on the first line of the song. This song to me was a breath of fresh Air, and I loved it. I remeber it creeped my sister out a little and thats always a plus. I remember HATING Dido a while back, reason being: She was so overplayed, both on TV and in my mom's car! it was just so plain annoying, but once people started getting bored with her I started warming up to her. This song is one of her Golden Moments in My Opinion

Diamanda Galas

I'm not sure how many of you know of her, but I've just discovered her very recently. Probably most famous for her Moans/screams, Diamanda Galas has been around for a while, a good 20 years I mean. Her music is not very easy to get into, however once you start listening to it, it really starts to grow on you. You can hear and see how much she influenced artists such as PJ Harvey when listening to her music.
Diamanda Galas' music has a very rough sound to it. My first impression of her music was this video(Screans of Love) which actually really scared me to the point that I had to close the window, and I havent been scared of any artist since when I first saw a Marilyn Manson video when I was about 12. Ironically enough, Marilyn Manson's video for "The Beautiful People", became my favourite video ever, and the Director, Floria Sigismondi's artworks laid down the standards at which I measure art with and is also my all time favourite photographer hands down! Anyways, I was talking about Diamanda Galas. So maybe she'll have the same effect on me that Marilyn Manson had on me, who knows... its too early to tell. One thing that there's no doubt about however, that Marilyn's got NOTHING on her.
My first Impressions of DG's music were not great, however later I discovered her later materials which are truely heartwrenching and amazing. Her lastest album "La Serpenta" is a double album featuring origional and cover material. I havent had the chance to buy it yet (because I cant find it anywhere in this stinkin' city!!!), but I'm sure is definately worth buying, judging from the albums I've heard of her.

Dead Disco

Thanx to Bigstereo, where all other great indie music is posted, I came accross this band today. Dead Disco, is an all female band that follow in the footsteps of legendry Debrah Harry, and the lovely Shirley Manson, and play along the new faces of female pop/rock sounds such as Lilly Allen, KT Tunstall and Metric.
They have very cool sound to themselves and from the moment that I saw their new video for their single "Automatic", it Screamed Shirley, only Shirley Manson has a less playful and way darker sound to her. So anyways:

At this moment, which nelly furtado is sitting at number one by becoming a slut, at this time where the US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice visits Israel to "come up with a solution", During the time where innocent people are getting killed by the Israeli forces in the streets of Lebenan, I feel scard. What amazes me the most is how the world leaders, including the effing Canadian Prime minister defend Israel's actions! (I mean forget Bush, everyone knows how much of a money loving idiot freak he is already), in this world, where money rules and we'll do anything to satisfy the rich pigs, in the world where the is no line to cross, and where very few say "Thats enough already!!" when millions are getting killed everyday, where the wars are always overseas, I want to say I've decided to be different and let everyone know my opinions on the shit of life!
I'm going to take the moment, in this superficial world full of pretty shini popstars, fake boobs and full of people who don't think for themselves and let others tell them what to do, specially those who believe that their government is here with their best interests, with everyone's interests in theirs hearts, to tell everyone who's asleep to wake up and see the reality around you!

Very Tired this week...
*Firstly, with school, Seeing my aunt after 2 years, a 25 KM hike, and a million bug bites I am exhausted...

*Secondly Komi left last Thursday, and I don't know when I'll see her again, because her family has moved to Africa... Already miss her very much... But as she always said she is not the type of person that hasn't/can't stay in one place for a long time. Calgary, being the most "conservative/crappy/spoiled full of rich people who don't know what to do with their money" town right now in Canada, I would say she's very lucky to not have to live here anymore... You know, I actually thought I'd have more time For this after my school is over, but this last week I've been really really busy because we're moving and I had to pack my life up into carton boxes. * Nelly Furtado, is set to hit No. 1 on the Billboard album charts this week, her highest charting before this was with her first album which peaked at no. 25. Good for her, she's a sellout and every1 luvs her now
* Muse's new album is STELLAR!!! well the couple of songs that I've heard of it is just breathtaking!! In celebration of this event, I went downtown today and finally bought myself a copy of their last album "Absolution", which I was obsessed with last year and when I put it on, it just sounded so much like last year...

A Retro Classic...

This (Tricky -Pumpkin)is nothing new, about 11 years old actually but I thought i'd be fun sharing this with everyone bcuz I'm really into this song for some reason today. Whats amazing about this video is that It features a very young Alison Goldfrapp, 5 years before goldfrapp's debut album was released showcasing her amazing vocal talents... its kinda a creepy video and I love it. The Hit, and the Miss

The Hit:
I've never been a fan of live albums, they are usually some songs with horrible quality and fans roaring in the background. It never puts me in the mood I would be if I were to be standing in the concert. However, when Madonna does something, she does it damn well. This CD/DVD combination is everything you want it to be and more. The live CD has a very good quality to it, and Madonna, performing new mixes of some of her songs made all of the album flow together very smoothly. The DVD offers all the behind the show of The Reinvention tour, in a 2 hours long documentary format. This documentary, Directed by Jonas Akerlund is everything you expect it to be. From the life of the dancers to Madonna's freakouts and everything else, you see Madonna at her best and her worse. What I like about the documentary the best was that Madonna that appears in this documentary is a very different Madonna from "Truth Or Dare". She is more mature, less of a diva and way less selfish. She is more caring towards the people around her, and it seems as if she is trying so hard to be a better person. Overall I loved both CD and the DVD. Definitely worth buying
Overall: 4/5

The Miss:
This whole album coming from an astonishingly good artist that wrote songs like "Explode", "Try" and "I'm Like a Bird" can be described all in one word: Average. That is, she has now reduced to an average pop star, with average pop songs and an average album. Yes I'm talking about the ex I'm like a Bird singer, who has now jumped on the "give my career a boost by hiring hot producers" wagon to well give her career a boost. It is true that this album gave Nelly her first number one in the UK with Maneater and Promiscuous is holding strongly at number 2 on the billboard charts, however what satisfies the public, is not necessarily very great artistically. In the case of Ms. Furtado, coming from such a strong album "Folklore" which was not a commercial success but was loved with her fans and critiques, "Loose" is a disappointment. Loose still offers songs that sound like the old Furtado, like "Say it Right" or "All Good Things Come To an End". It also offers some instant hooks like "Promiscuous", "Maneater" and "Wait for You". The rest of the album however is a bunch of average pop album fillers. In my opinion, this album is definitely not worth buying, just DL it.
Overall: 2.5/5

OMG!! IT'S FINALLY OVER!!! no more exams!!! and to celebrate that, Komi & I went CD shopping today and also got ourselves some bubble tea which totally rocked! I finally picked up the new Zero 7 album and also bought myself "Madonna - I'm Going To Tell You a Secret", which I immidately popped into my DVD player as soon as I got home (I'll review it lata). I was also very close to buying Nelly Furtado's new album, but after hearing it I must say I'm kinda dissapointed so I've decided not to buy it, unless it goes on some super good sale.
I've got some major updating to do on the website, everything is outdated from the Recomandations and Excitements to the links, their all outdated and need to be updated. I might also pick a new outfit for the site if I feel like it... So watchout for a whole lotta stuff comin' ur way!

Bright Eyes: Concert Review

Last Thursday, my and my sister went to see Bright Eyes live in concert. Both of us were pretty excited since we are both in love with Bright Eyes last album "I'm Wide Awake It's Morning" at the moment and were dying to see Conor Oberst live!! We went to the concert late, planning to miss the act that played before bright Eyes, since the last Concert I went to (Metric) had 2 other bands playing with them and by the time metric came on, I was soo exhausted that I just wanted the concert to end, and the other acts kinda reminded me of the forced commercial breaks in the middle of a movie... anyways...
Overall, the concert was pretty amazing. Highlights for me were when Conor screwed up the they guitar rhym when playing "First Day of My life" and had to start over and said that "All your pretty voices are distracting me and I can't focus" which I thought was really cool! Also he did a stellar performance of my fav song "Poison Oak". What I didn't like was when he started lecturing the crowd about the city and life in general. I think he made a fool of himself trying to sound like an 80 year old wise guy.
This Concert Wasn't the best concert I've ever been to, but It was pretty damn amazing! And I'm glad I went!

I came accros Pawnshop the band, while I was going through the UK charts this week, and noticed that the band shares the same name as us, well kinda... but anyways their single had debut at no. 100, and I thought I'd be fun to search up this band. After researching a little, I've came up with little about the band, their website freaks me out as it looks like it hasn't been updated since 1998, but they kinda have a cool sound to themselves. Here's how they described themselves on their website:

Meet Schuyler Fisk; some of you might remember seeing this woman on One Tree Hill, or an Indie flick called "American Gun."
She got a record deal from Universal Studios, but her album is expected to be released somwhere in October.
Not only is she a talented actress, she's a pretty amazing musician. Her music is a mix of folk rock, a bit of pop, the blues, with a "hint" of jazz. I've only heard 5 songs from her, so I guess I shouldn't say much on her.
My favorite one is called "the good stuff" which you can hear in the American Gun Trailer, the last song that plays.
She also did a duet with Joshua Radin called "Paperweight." It will be on the soundtrack of a movie called "The Last Kiss" that comes out in October. I haven't been able to find it yet, but when I do, I'll post it up.
I can't put my finger on it, but she reminds me of someone...It'll come to me soon, otherwise it'll bother me on for ages lol.

So who's got Halle Barry playing her songs over and over again? She's about 17 years old, and her name is Sonya Kitchell. Her music is a mix of Jazz, folk, R&B, blues, and even a little bit of soul (this sister has got is all :P). She's been compared to Norah Jones and Carole King. But comparing her to these musicians really does her no justice, until you listen to her debut album "Words came back to me."
It's hard to believe that she's only 16 (on her debut album), because the "maturity" of her music appears to be of someone much older. She writes her own music, her own lyrics, and even plays the guitar for all her songs. Just goes to show how much talent this girl has.
Her music shows heavy influences from legendary jazz musicians such as Nat "King" Cole to Joni Mitchell, and even Billie Holliday.
If you looking for something new, yet classy, she's got that and much more.

Hellow darlings, I've had an exhusting week, which left me with no time for posting here... and next week doesnt sound like its going to be any better... so lets say if u checked the blog everyday, check it maybe every week... anyways while I have time why don't tell u the news:

First, Goldfrapp's label has decided to not release the Video for their new Single "Fly Me Away". The reason for pulling the video has not been mentioned yet. This move comes strangly suprising and stupid to me since the single is getting amazing airplay in UK (Reached no. 12 on the airplay charts a couple of weeks ago), and debut at no. 27 on the official UK charts without a video...

In Other news, Cate Blanchett is set to play Bob Dylan in a new Bio Movie about the singer. Now the obvious question here is, isnt she ummm a WOMAN??

This past week was Birth week here in Hollywood. First, it was a boy for Gwen Stefani and her rocker husband Gavin Rossdale. Kingston James McGregor Rossdale was born this past week and both the mother and the baby are in great conditions. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have also welcomed a baby girl, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pit.

Now lets move on to the Charts then, First last week Nelly Furtado made another HUGE jump going from 30 to 9 in a week with her new single Promiscuous. The Red Hot Chili Peppers hold on for a second week at no. 1 in the US charts and a third week in the UK. The Reconteurs debut in the top 10 in US and UK. Zero 7, the Pet Shop Boys and Angels and Airwaves all debut in the UK top 10 as I predicted...

And Finally and perhaps the best news out of all these (other than Gwen giving birth to a healthy baby) k... ready... drumroll!!! Cat Stevens is writing a new Pop Album!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this made me sooo happy when I heard it!!! He is the First singer that I really loved. My cool aunt that lives in Austria bought one of his CDs for my mom and my mom used to play it all the time when I was little and I Loved it!!! I'm Sooo happy that he's finally doing the Pop thing again!!!! No word on when the album is going to be released.

Muse is about to release their new LP, with the first single being "Supermassive Black Hole" which sounds nothing like their older material, yet its astonishingly good. Popjustice after recently hearing the album, describe muse and their new album by saying:

There are three of them - just like Point Break and EYC.
They are boys - just like Take That, 911 and the Pussycat Dolls.
They aren't completely dreadful to look at.
Their new album is a massive electronic pop 'extravaganza' due to the fact that Muse have clearly listened to nothing but Queen, Goldfrapp and Phixx for the past three years.
Oddly, this means that Muse now sound a bit like The Honeytraps.
One song sounds like Madonna's 'Ray of Light'.
The album seems to have been inspired by Old El Paso dinner kits. There is a definite whiff of burrito on the second half of the album.
'Supermassive Black Hole' sounds a lot like Britney's 'Do Somethin'. Britney is not a boyband but you get the general idea.
Most of the songs could be played at a disco, and particularly the disco known as Club Popjustice - every Friday in London town, 11-3, £3 on the d... (Get on with it - Ed)
One song sounds a bit like the Shapeshifters, but not the one with the video at the fairground - the rubbish one they did recently. A good version of that. Perhaps the word 'Balearic' should be used now. Not so much a change in direction as a sudden swerve across all four lanes on the motorway. (PS Can Lamemza have a crack at this one?)
I did get a Muse pencil (it was orange) but that must have fallen out of my bag somewhere on the way home.
The last song has a horse on it.
A HORSE.

This made me ten times more excited about this album, I cant wait fooor it!!!

Dixie Chicks - Taking the Long Way
Not being a country music fan myself, I'm not sure If I love the Dixie Chicks or not. However, Their video for their new single "Not Ready to Make Nice" made me have a strong urge to listen to their album. After listening to them a few times, I have to say its a very very good album. Its one of the only country album that I can listen to without wanting to smash the stereo.

The Wreckers - Stand Still, Look Pretty
Michelle Branch's new project The Wreckers is very similar to Michelle Branch's solo albums, except the new songs have a very country sound to them. Overall its an okay album. I don't know how I feel about it yet, I have to listen to it a couple more times, but from the first few spins, I'll give it:

Angels and Airwaves - We Don't Need To Whisper
Not being the biggest Blink 182 fan, I wasn't really excited about this release. I specially hated Tom Delonge's voice in some Blink songs and believed the if he didn't sing in lets say "I Miss You", the song would have been much better. But I have to admit that this is a good album. The lyrics sound very similar to Blink 182 lyrics but the melodies are different, and somehow make Tom's voice bearable. What I didn't Like about this album, is that most of the song have sound the same. Overal I liked it though.

This, in my opinion is the best song Franz has written up to date, and the sad thing is that it didn't even end up in their album, maybe they recorded it after their album's release... anyways, eventhough this song is a b-side, the band ended up shooting a video for it, which they do not appear in, and is released a double a-side single with The Fallen. You can watch the video here (QT) and be amazed how good Franz can write perfect pop songs...

Enon is an experimental Pop band that I came accross while listening to my Goldfrapp radio, I don't know much about them except for:

ENON released a new CD called "Lost Marbles And Exploded Evidence" in February, 2005.
ENON toured the US during the month of March.
ENON are toured the United States in June, 2005.
ENON spent the summer in an underground bunker somewhere in the North Pole.
ENON spent autumn experimenting.
ENON are spending the winter building noise teepees out of instruction manuals and midis

Review: Pet Shop Boys - Fundamental

With Pet Shop Boys '06 release "Fundamental" getting such a great buzz in all of the pop blogs, it would be unfair if I left it off my review list.
After the first few spins, I have to say this is a good album. There are lots of great songs in the album, as well as lots of repeated themes and melodies. To me, who has heard 2 or 3 PSP albums, this sound exactly the same as their older material.
Some highlights from the album include "Luna Park", which oddly reminds me of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb". The way Neil Tennant sings this song, it reminded me of one of the great moments in Pink Floyd's "The wall". Another Standout is the very memorable "Minimal", which is another great synth pop song in the album. However, the one song that stands out the most and leaves a smile on my face is "integral". From the opening line which Neil Tennant sings with such a force "If you've done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to fear", to the last second of the song you feel the power of the Pet Shop Boys. Integral, in my opinion is one of the most perfect synth pop song ever written (and is currently at no. 4 on PJ's Charts). The song also provides a great closure to the album.
Overall, this is a great synth pop album. I would not call it a classic, but its another album that you can add to your Pet Shop Boys catalogue. Its an album that you'd enjoy for a certain amount of time before it ends up at the back of your closet.

The Coup is back with a new album called "Pick A Bigger Weapon" . I heard them this weekend when I went down to our indie-ish music store her called Megatunes, and the song that they were playing sounded very much like Nelly Furtado's "Promiscuous", that I was very much tempted to just buy the album, however since I was broke as usual, I ended up just buying The Dresden Dolls "Yes Virginia" album.
Later, listening to their songs on their Myspace page, I wish I had bought the album. The tracks are fun and funky and remind me of Missy's "So Addictive" album. I'll definately be buying it as soon as i have some money

This band may be old news to some, but I've just came accross them, and I'm amazed by their amazing sound. Vanessa & The O's formed in 2003 when james iha, former guitarist and co-founding member of smashing pumpkins met vanessa contenay-quinones and swedes andreas mattson and niclas frisk in new york 2003. they recorded the album "la ballade d'o"over the next year. The results is a fantastic 'european cool' album with breathy female vocals over music that sounds like the concretes, stereolab or a more modern take on the velvet underground. you will instantly fall in love with this album like I have...

This, Is one of the best albums ever in my opinion and one of the most overlooked albums in music history. The strange sounds of this album are very haunting. This is in my opinion the best Goldfrapp album.

This album really goes well with the book I'm reading right now (JT LeRoy's Sarah), both very depressing, both discuss the subject sex a lot, and both of the artists in my opinion need to be hugged by someone saying to them "everything is going to be alright". The book "Sarah" eventhough a very good book, is very very disturbing and depressing and eventhough I promised myself that I'm going to finish this book because Shirley Manson really adored it, I can't bring myself to pick it up again...

Pheonix are back with a new album "It's Never Been Like That" just as the weather is getting warmer, and that is great news because listening to Pheonix always reminds me of nice hot summer day lying under the sun on the grass feeling life is great! So for me, this is going to be my summertime album since the new songs that are up on the bands Myspace page have a very relaxed sound to it.
I first heard about Pheonix on the Six feet Under soundtrack, when the song "Everything is Everything" was featured there. I put on their albums when I want to relax or when the weather is hot and I want to go sit outside in the sun.
Their new album "It's Never Been Like that" is out May 15th. You should go buy it and have fun!

its been a very long week and I'm sooo glad that it's finally over! So lets got on with the top news of the week then shall we??

This week, my Shirley Manson made her first trashy magazine appearance in a while and I was soo proud of her, because she looked sooo good. The reason for her appearance was because she was attending Gwen Stefani's baby shower. Click here to see the full page scan.

In other news, Courtney Love seems to be cleaning up really well!! I'm soo proud of her too!! She attended what looked to be an award ceremony or something like that with Billy Corgan looking really nice and off drugs! I'm just soo happy for her. Congrats to Courtney. Read the whole article here

Speaking of Billy Corgan, The Smashing pumpkins are apparently re-uniting. Billboard.com Reports that they have already started writing songs for their new album, and last time I'm gonna say this, I'm sooo proud!! I love the smashing Pumpkins!!!

In other News, Peaches new album is going to be amazing, well I haven't heard it yet but the name "Impeach My Bush" is such a killer, and I know that girl can do no wrong. The album is due out on July 11 in the US and July 10 in the UK.

And Finally, HMV UK confirmed that the new Nelly Furtado Single is going to be Maneater. I personally prefer Promiscuous better, but Maneater is fine too. HMV UK also confirmed this week that the new Sugababes single is indeed going to be Follow Me Home. There seemed to be a little confusion on the next sugababes single, between "Follow Me Home" and "Gotta Be You". Personally I like "Follow Me Home" Better. This is going to be the second single the girls will release with their new member.

The Dresden Dolls have been anonymous to me but apparently, they have been around for a while and had albums before their new album called "Yes Virginia", which by the way is AMAZING!! I'm just truly in love with it, it's supa good!! What's great about this band is that instead of being cheap and putting up just one song on their myspace page they put up their whole new album up. This album sound has that Bold female with Piano sound to it, that I'm sure if Tori heard it, she'd be soo proud. The album is getting released on the 18th of April, and you, like me should go and pick it up!!
