Diamanda Galas

I'm not sure how many of you know of her, but I've just discovered her very recently. Probably most famous for her Moans/screams, Diamanda Galas has been around for a while, a good 20 years I mean. Her music is not very easy to get into, however once you start listening to it, it really starts to grow on you. You can hear and see how much she influenced artists such as PJ Harvey when listening to her music.
Diamanda Galas' music has a very rough sound to it. My first impression of her music was this video(Screans of Love) which actually really scared me to the point that I had to close the window, and I havent been scared of any artist since when I first saw a Marilyn Manson video when I was about 12. Ironically enough, Marilyn Manson's video for "The Beautiful People", became my favourite video ever, and the Director, Floria Sigismondi's artworks laid down the standards at which I measure art with and is also my all time favourite photographer hands down! Anyways, I was talking about Diamanda Galas. So maybe she'll have the same effect on me that Marilyn Manson had on me, who knows... its too early to tell. One thing that there's no doubt about however, that Marilyn's got NOTHING on her.
My first Impressions of DG's music were not great, however later I discovered her later materials which are truely heartwrenching and amazing. Her lastest album "La Serpenta" is a double album featuring origional and cover material. I havent had the chance to buy it yet (because I cant find it anywhere in this stinkin' city!!!), but I'm sure is definately worth buying, judging from the albums I've heard of her.
So:

* [Highly Recomanded] Check out her haunting cover of Billy Holiday's Gloomy Sunday
* [Very Highly Recomanded] Check out her 6 Part Poznan Jazz Fair Concert: Part1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6
* Watch her 2 Part Interview and see how much of a Well read and Intellegent woman she Is: Part 1, Part 2

Please give her a chance, She's so amazing

Franz Ferdinand - Elenor Put Your Boots...

thank god they made this into a single, its the best song in the album, I wish they didnt change the melody, I liked the album version of the song much better, with the nice simple melody...

Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancing

Here's the Cover, and click on the cover to get the song. It's the greatest thing ever!!!!

Dead Disco

Thanx to Bigstereo, where all other great indie music is posted, I came accross this band today. Dead Disco, is an all female band that follow in the footsteps of legendry Debrah Harry, and the lovely Shirley Manson, and play along the new faces of female pop/rock sounds such as Lilly Allen, KT Tunstall and Metric.
They have very cool sound to themselves and from the moment that I saw their new video for their single "Automatic", it Screamed Shirley, only Shirley Manson has a less playful and way darker sound to her. So anyways:
*Check their Myspace Page
*Watch Automatic

Patrick Wolf

He was completely unknown to me, until recently (thanx to XO's Middle eight). However, he has a very Morrissey like way of singing which I truly adore and has got me mesmorized specially on one of his songs called " Penzance", which available for listening on his Myspace page. So please do check him out because he's truly amazing!

At this moment, which nelly furtado is sitting at number one by becoming a slut, at this time where the US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice visits Israel to "come up with a solution", During the time where innocent people are getting killed by the Israeli forces in the streets of Lebenan, I feel scard. What amazes me the most is how the world leaders, including the effing Canadian Prime minister defend Israel's actions! (I mean forget Bush, everyone knows how much of a money loving idiot freak he is already), in this world, where money rules and we'll do anything to satisfy the rich pigs, in the world where the is no line to cross, and where very few say "Thats enough already!!" when millions are getting killed everyday, where the wars are always overseas, I want to say I've decided to be different and let everyone know my opinions on the shit of life!
I'm going to take the moment, in this superficial world full of pretty shini popstars, fake boobs and full of people who don't think for themselves and let others tell them what to do, specially those who believe that their government is here with their best interests, with everyone's interests in theirs hearts, to tell everyone who's asleep to wake up and see the reality around you!

Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah's - Cheated Hearts

I adore the video!!!!! This, is the best song IMO that came out this year :D, It makes me happy

...>>>

Very Tired this week...
*Firstly, with school, Seeing my aunt after 2 years, a 25 KM hike, and a million bug bites I am exhausted...

*Secondly Komi left last Thursday, and I don't know when I'll see her again, because her family has moved to Africa... Already miss her very much... But as she always said she is not the type of person that hasn't/can't stay in one place for a long time. Calgary, being the most "conservative/crappy/spoiled full of rich people who don't know what to do with their money" town right now in Canada, I would say she's very lucky to not have to live here anymore... So, I'll leave you with this song from Esthero, where she sing: "One of these things just doesn't belong here/ Hey look at that Girl"
DL: Esthero - That Girl

*Thirdly, Nouvelle vague's album is truly amazing, and whenever I was in a good/sleepy mood this past couple of days, I put it on. There's specially this one song that I adore in the album called "Don't Go". The song originally performed by Yazoo, it has this humble sadness to it that just tears me apart inside the way Massive Attack's Live With Me does. So have a listen to it.
DL: Nouvelle vague - Don't Go

*Fourthly, I hate to say it, knowing how overrated and "My Chemical Romance" like this band has become, but the new Billy talent Album is freaking a kick in the ass!!! which means its awesome... now I'm regretting selling my first Billy talent album...
listen to: Billy Tallent - Red Flag

New Chantal Kreviazuk

Canadian Singer/Songwriter, responsible for hits like Kelly Clarkson's "Walk Away", is back with a new song called "All I Can Do" from her upcoming album Ghost Stories due out this summer. The song is ver Coldplay like in my oppinion. Personally I think she has better songs**, but this is another great song by this fine songwriter. so:
*Have a liten to All I Can Do Here
